## Job Description
BASIC DESCRIPTION:
Individual must be able to communicate effectively in a team environment and will assist /lead continuous improvement efforts within the business unit. This person will lead quality initiatives and support the Manufacturing Engineering position. The individual must be a self-starter, detail orientated, team player and quality conscious. Must have a flexible schedule to work all shifts in order to support projects within the business unit. Start and end times may vary depending on project scope.
Essential Functions:
Assist Manufacturing Engineer in the development and instruction of quality training tools and the quality system.
Lead / assist capital procurement projects within the Components Group.
Ability to design, quote and coordinate procurement of fixtures.
Assist with layout and work cell design within the business unit.
Support active projects and promote a proactive approach towards continuous improvement efforts within the business unit.
Identify, analyze and solve manufacturing process related issues and equipment problems for all related processes as well as introduce preventative actions utilizing various problem solving methods.
Help maintain the quality system documentation (work instructions, forms, SharePoint site, etc.)
Assist with quality projects and research that will bring in cost savings or process improvements using quality tools.
Assist Manufacturing Engineer with the development of metrics and dashboards to share quality information in all departments.
Address audit results and action items in a team environment (i.e. with vendors, internal audits, etc.)
Have a thorough understanding of practices and procedures relating to sheet metal, machining and finishing.
Have a thorough understanding of SPC to implement analysis on where to use and improve results in any of the Components Group businesses.
Apply the ITW Operating Principles to BU operations.
Provide technical support to maintenance, engineering techs, leaders and production teams.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
## Job Requirements
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Experience with quality systems and utilizing/teaching quality tools
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics
Strong people, customer service, and project management skills
Strength to lead and take positive action regarding quality decisions
Professional communication with all levels of personnel both internal and external to the organization
Must possess good computer skills and be able to analyze data from various sources and identify opportunities for improvements (Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Experience with leading teams and supporting training efforts
Overtime as required
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Experience with SolidWorks & CAD software
Quoting experience in Sheet Metal, Machining or Finishing
Ability to assist with off-line programming in Sheet Metal and Machining on an as needed basis
